The World Archery Excellence Centre is located 15 minutes away from the middle of Lausanne.

Partnerships with hotels and restaurants in the area and the City of Lausanne will make the Centre easy to visit and desirable to stay at.

Local public transport routes such as the M2 metro line and bus numbers 45, 62 and 64 end nearby the Centre.

Services

Envisaged as a hub for Olympic, elite and recreational archery worldwide, the World Archery Excellence Centre will host training camps, individual athletes, judging and coaching seminars, and become the primary venue for World Archery’s development initiatives.

It will also be a multi-sport venue offering activities to the communities of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud.

The 6,200m2 site includes the following facilities:

  • Huge 70/18m indoor range/activity hall
  • Athlete lounge and cafeteria
  • Office spaces
  • Gym, changing rooms
  • Sports medicine facilities
  • Conference and meeting spaces
  • 90m outdoor field

All facilities at the World Archery Excellence Centre are available for bookings by private individuals and organisations. Rates are offered on application.

Juan Carlos HOLGADO

Director

Juan Carlos Holgado is a four-time Olympian (Athlete in 1988 and 1992, Coach in 1996 and 2000) who became an Olympic Gold Medallist in Barcelona 1992. 

He holds a Master of Management & Administration in Sport and a License in Physical Education and Sport ScienceHe got involved in World Archery in 1999 as the Chairman of the Coaches Committee until 2004. In 2002 he joined the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organizing Committee as the Technical Operations Manager for the Archery event. He was the Word Archery Technical Delegate in the Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Appointed as World Archery Events Director in 2005, he played a decisive role in the many changes introduced in the international archery events. Since 1999 he is the Chairman of the Technical Commission for Archery in FISU, the University International Sports Federation. In 2016 he became the Director of the World Archery Excellence Centre in Lausanne, and Director of the World Archery Development Foundation (FIDTA).

Juan Carlos has over two decades of experience in managing international events, developing archery projects, educating and training archery coaches, coaching archers of any level and running seminars that have helped to develop and grow archery around the world.

Corinne VAUDROZ

Administration Coordinator

Corinne is sporty and practices various sports activities, including ski, fitness, cycling and yoga. She has 10 years of work experience in international sports, and 20 years of work experience in administration. She is in charge of the administrative work for FIDTA and the World Archery Excellence Centre, and also works as a receptionist. Corinne is fluent in French and English, and also speaks Spanish and German.

Kyeong Su JEOUNG

Head Coach

Kyeong Su Jeoung is the Head Coach of the WAEC in charge of managing and planning all archery trainings and activities. Key role is the development of content for archery trainings as well as directing teams of archery coaches.

Originally from South Korea, Kyeong Su arrived in Switzerland in November 2016 to be the Centre’s Head Coach.

Kyeong Su started archery in 1999 and quickly rose to Cadet and became part of Korea’s Youth National Team in 2005 and Junior National Team in 2006. Additional honours include Team Silver at the Youth World Championships in Merida in 2006.

From athlete to coach, Kyeong Su soon became the coach of the Sri Lanka Archery National Team, the Yanwha Middle School (Seoul), the Korean Boy team of Seoul International Archery Youth FESTA from 2010 to 2015.

Kyeong Su graduated from the Korean National Sport University in Physical Education. He was a participant of the Asian Archery Coaching Seminar in 2016 and is a Coach trainer level 1.

Abdoulaye DIALLO

Maintenance Supervisor

Born in Dakar, Senegal, he became passionate about sports since the age of 6.

Started playing competitive football in the AS Douanes at 13 years old. Studied law in the Cheikh Anta Diop University (Dakar) for a year and then moved to Marketing & Communication faculty where he got his diploma and license 3 years later.

At the age of 19, he decided to move to Europe to continue with his football carrier. He arrived in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2014, where he started to play in the FC Malley and initiated his football coaching carrier in the FC Malley kid's teams.

During his first years in Lausanne, he participated in different Red Cross courses. At this period he also volunteered in various events organized at the WAEC, where he got in contact with the sport of Archery and the WAEC team.

In 2017 he became one of the WAEC’ s instructors. Motivated to grow more in Archery, he participated successfully in the WA Coaches Course level 1 in 2018. He has the intention to develop Archery in Senegal in the near future. The same year he continued his studies by completing a Commercial Adviser course successfully in the CEFCO school.

In 2019 he became a staff member in the WAEC team as its "Maintenance Coordinator", with the duty to ensure that the WAEC is in good shape.

Miquel Angel PIFARRE

Archery Events Coordinator & Coach

Miquel is a Spanish recurve archer who started archery in 2002.

He has been a member of the Spanish national team from 2014 to 2019. During these years, he won several national championships and represented Spain in several World Cups, European Championships and World Championships.

Miquel is one of the full-time coaches of the World Archery Excellence Centre. Besides, he is responsible for coordinating the archery activities organised at the WAEC, as well as managing the instructors needed.

He is a certified coach level 1 in the RFETA (Royal Spanish Archery Federation) and World Archery level 1 coach. He also participated in the level 3 World Archery Coaching Course.

Miquel studied vocational training as an instructor of physical activities (2012-2014). He completed his education with a certification in Administration and Accounting (2016-2018).

He is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

Junoh FINAL

Junoh LEE

Events & Competition Manager

Junoh has now been working in event management for 10 years, including in the Korean floorball federation: he’s been playing this sport for 12 years in the Korean national team.

After graduating from the International Academy of Sport Science and Technology (AISTS) of Lausanne in 2014, he started his journey with the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games in the Test Event Management department, organizing more than 30 international test events, before moving to the marketing department.

After dealing with Olympic top partners and local sponsors for one and a half years, he has now been sent by the Korean Olympic Committee to work at the World Archery Excellence Centre.

Alexane SCELLES

Webmaster & Communication Consultant

After getting a degree in English and Spanish in 2017, Alexane first came to Lausanne as a French student for an internship at the World Archery office during a master’s degree in Translation and Writing.

She came back to work at the World Archery Excellence Centre as Webmaster and Communication Coordinator for the 2018 Masters’ Championships.

She has taken up archery at university during her degree studies and has been practicing it since then.

Nathalie CHABIN

Coach

WAEC Assistant Coach
Supports the WAEC Head Coach in all technical, equipment and coaching matters. They are responsible for the organizational support of and the delivery of archery to all commercial events.

WAEC Events & Sports Coordinator
Works with the Sales & Business Adviser to manage, plan and run all commercial events. Additional duties include the coordination of volunteers and archery instructors as well as the development of the Archery Instructor Formation Program, which includes building a team of instructors.

Ray Paroz

Coach and Competition coordinator

Ray Paroz is a Swiss National originating from Saicourt in the Canton of Bern who grew up in South Africa where he completed his schooling.

He is married and has five children. Previous professional careers have covered Import/Export, Tourism, Insurance brokerage, estate agent, logistics and turn-around consultant.

Ray’s background in sports is quite extensive and has included a large variety of sports. Ray started archery in 2007 where he shot in the barebow division. He has since won the Swiss Championships in this division 10 times. In addition, in 2011, Ray became a Swiss Archery Judge and in 2012 an archery coach for his local club.
Ray joined the World Archery Excellence Centre in August 2017.
