On the 23 of June, the World Archery Excellence Centre organized a Try Archery booth in the Fête des Râpes in Vers-chez-les-Blanc. This annual event, organised in the village just five hundred metres from the Excellence Centre, gives local families the opportunity to enjoy different activities.
This year, one of the activities was archery. Anyone from 5 to 99 years old willing to try archery just by registering on the day. Any person registered had 6 practise arrows and 6 scoring arrows that were used for qualifying to the finals. There were 6 categories: kids from 5 to 12 years old, youths from 13 to 18 years old, and adults from 19 to 99 years old, each divided into male and female categories. The 3 best archers per category of the day were asked to return to the booth for the grand finale in front of the visitors of the Fête.
The activity was a great success with approximately 120 participants of all ages trying archery.
The feedback given by the participants was very positive. It was described as fun and exciting. The World Archery Excellence Centre Director Juan Carlos Holgado declared: “It is always a pleasure to support the community and promote our sport at the same time. We are happy with the level of collaboration with the Youth Association of Vers-chez-les-Blanc and the organisation of the event. This is a beneficial partnership for both sides and we are looking forward to our next collaboration, which will take place during the World Archery Masters Championships. The Youth Association will provide assistance and volunteers and be running the Excellence Centre’s restaurant.”
